A Trash Mission that is!
Occasionally I get the urge to start throwing things away! My children's toys have been on the agenda for quite sometime now!
Seriously have been driving me crazy!!
In part because despite my best efforts in trying to teach them to pick up after themselves.... truth be told, I do a lot of it myself. And I am so sick of picking up McDonald's junk, and the literal hundreds of small figurine dolls and dollhouse furniture that Gracie dumps numerous times a day. Yes... I do make her help me pick it up. But she is one of those that as soon as she sees something she's like, "Oh Yeah!! I forgot about you!" and then just wants to start playing with it again. So it's sit there with her for 45 min coaxing her to pick it all up 10 x a day or do it a couple of times and pick it up the rest!
Well, my plan was to go through their rooms and the playroom with a trash bag during Vacation Bible School last week, but I ended up spending most of my time training and it didn't happen.
The problem that that presents for this week is that I have to clean them out with them around. And in order to do that... it's turns into this secret mission!!
Literally for the past two days as soon as I break out the trash bags you can see them perk up and get panic struck faces! A few items were rescued from the trash bag, but for the most part I would very sneakily cram stuff in them while they weren't looking and make a mad dash downstairs to the big trash can in the garage.
Once it's gone it's gone!!
I have managed to get through Cooper's room yesterday with only 1 full trash bag. I did Gracie's room today and that was 2 1/2 trash bags!! Tomorrow... Play room!!
I'm seriously looking forward to it! It's refreshing!
So sorry Mr. Trash Man! My garbage will be extra heavy on Monday, but to some they may feel there's treasure in there so....
Have a good day everyone!

omg...that is soo funny. my son is the same way. it can be a toy he hasn't touched in years. he sees me pick it up and goes "THAT'S MY FAVORITE TOY!!!!11111"
oh really, this broken army man from MCDONALDS???
lol
I tell my wife all the time that she is going to come home one day and I am going to have a rolloff dumpster parked in the driveway, and all she is going to see is me with a wheelbarrow and a smile.
At least you don't have to pack all that crap up every 3 yrs and unpack it 2 months later.
"What the heck is this? Have we EVER used it?"
"We might one day"
I feel your pain!!!!!!!
I'm gonna need to come up with a strategy for my son when he gets to that age! Too funny.
We have toy-culling parties where all three have to donate a bag-full for the kids who need them more.. because otherwise I go crazy from all the kid stuff all over our house!! Glad I'm not the only one donating my kids toys away..
Psssssssst! My garage is a disaster! When can you come over? ;-)
I feel your pain...how many times have I stepped on an army guy and cursed at it?! Ouch!
Oh gosh - I don't know how you keep from killing yourself with all the toys - I would slip on one and re-break my back. NOT cool! :) I can JUST see Cooper and Gracie suddenly honing in on YOU with the garbage bag. It's a Mexican Stand-off Kiddie Style!
Good luck! At least you don't have furry cat toys all over. Yikes.
Although, does Rocky have any toys lying around.... ?
Sounds like training is going GREAT! EXCELLENT! Keep up with the PT - HOORAY!
Oh I NEED to be on this same mission right now. Can you e-mail me this "junk throwing bug" of yours? Maybe it will rub off next weekend at the race?!
So true! I did this 2 days ago with my kids. I swear they don't listen when you tell them to pick up and then as soon as you bring out the trash bag..... Oh my god, they actually listen!
Did you put out your garabage yet?
I'm coming by and will riffle through your crap. I need one more figurine to complete my tri girl voo doo doll collection.LOL!
You got an dolphins? "Save the Dolphins"!
Dolphin boy....
Hey they say one person's garbage or trash or donations or whatever is another persons treasure... I believe that to be true...
I'm smiling on this one. My sister and probably every mother has had this secret mission, especially with toys. I can see how this happens. After awhile it would just seem like so much extra crapola lying around with little hands not even missing half the stuff!! :D Way to go mama!Good luck on your secret mission.
